EXTREME RULES TICKETS- HISTORY OF EXTREME RULES WRESTLING
Extreme Rules is an annual pay-per-view event sponsored by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), and during its history, sales of Extreme Rules tickets have made the event one of the most popular in the WWE stable of events.
The annual Extreme Rules pay-per-view event was created back in 2005 when WWE launched ECW One Night Stand, a series of wrestling matches geared more towards hardcore wrestling. The first annual ECW One Night Stand event was held on June 12, 2005 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. In 2006, ECW became one of the brands of WWE, much like Raw and Smackdown, and ECW One Night Stand was promoted under the ECW brand until 2006.
In 2007, WWE dropped the ECW name from the annual event, and fans purchasing Extreme Rules tickets in 2007 and 2008 went to the event titled just One Night Stand. In 2009, the name was changed to Extreme Rules, and has remained so ever since. Over the past several years, fans who have purchased Extreme Rules tickets have watched several championship bouts scheduled on each card, including the World Heavyweight Championship and the WWE Championship.
EXTREME RULES TICKETS- EXTREME RULES STARS AND HIGHLIGHTS
Since Extreme Rules debuted as ECW One Night Stand back in 2005, fans who have purchased Extreme Rules tickets have seen the best of the best in the world of wrestling compete against each other in a series of various hardcore wrestling matches that have captivated audiences. In the inaugural One Night Stand event, fans who bought Extreme Rules tickets watched as the Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von) took on Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman in an epic battle.
The following year, 2006, fans once again flocked to the turnstiles to purchase Extreme Rules tickets at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City to watch WWE star John Cena take on Rob Van Dam in an Extreme Rules match for the WWE Championship. Cena, who was loudly booed throughout the match, lost the WWE Championship that night, with Van Dam pinning Cena after getting some helpful interference from Edge.
In 2007, fans purchased Extreme Rules tickets for a different venue, as WWE hosted the event at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. Cena once again was on the main card, this time fighting for the WWE Championship against The Great Khali. Cena regained his championship belt by subduing Khali with a classic pinfall.
In 2008, pay-per-view sales of Extreme Rules tickets were in high demand, as Edge took on The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship. Much was on the line for this event, as the WWE told The Undertaker that if he lost the match, he would be forced to leave the WWE. The Undertaker was defeated by Edge in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match, with help from La Familia.
The 2009 event saw fans purchasing Extreme Rules tickets for the event via pay-per-view and for the San Diego Sports Arena, where Edge suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his match against Jeff Hardy. Hardy went on to fight CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship, won by Punk.
In 2010 and 2011, John Cena was once again involved in action at Extreme Rules to the delight of his fans awaiting his return. The 2011 match was particularly exciting, involving Cena, The Miz and John Morrison in a Triple Threat Steel Cage Match for the WWE Championship, won by Cena.
