While not an official mascot, the rally squirrel gained popularity during the 2011 postseason. It first appeared in Game 3 of the NLDS. As the St. Louis Cardinals were at-bat against the Phillies in Game 4 of the NLDS, a squirrel ran across home plate in the middle of a pitch from Roy Oswalt to Skip Schumaker. The St. Louis Cardinals would win Game 4 and subsequently Game 5 in Philadelphia to advance to the NLCS. They eventually won the World Series in Game 7.
