WWE SMACKDOWN TICKETS- HISTORY OF WWE SMACKDOWN

From its inception in 1999, WWE SmackDown has been one of the most popular wrestling events on television, and sales of WWE SmackDown tickets for its live events have been in high demand.

WWE SmackDown originally aired on April 29, 1999 on the UPN network. Sales of WWE SmackDown tickets instantly became a hit, offering wrestling fans an alternative to its counterpart, WWE Raw, which airs earlier in the week on Mondays. WWE SmackDown is now aired in over 50 other countries as well as the United States. Originally, the entire stable of wrestlers working in the WWE were routinely seen on both WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown, however in 2002, WWE implemented its "Brand Extension" project, and WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown were set up as two separate wrestling promotions within WWE, each having its own stable of wrestlers with varying storylines and backgrounds. The promotion furthered sales of WWE SmackDown tickets, as fans could now watch two separate division and see competitions against each other.

At around the same time, WWE purchased World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), meaning a much larger roster of wrestlers for both Raw and SmackDown. If sales of WWE SmackDown tickets weren't already steady, they became even more so after the merger of wrestling organizations.

In 2005, UPN network moved WWE SmackDown from its traditional Thursday night slot to Friday nights. While Friday nights normally signal death for many shows, the new Friday Night Smackdown thrived, and after its move to the CW network in 2006, it became the second highest-watched program ever on CW.

WWE SmackDown can now be seen on the SyFy channel, and recently surpassed 640 broadcasts since its inception in 1999.

WWE SMACKDOWN TICKETS- WWE SMACKDOWN WRESTLING STARS

In the early years of WWE SmackDown, sales of WWE SmackDown tickets were enhanced by one of its rising stars, The Rock. The Rock, otherwise known as Dwayne Johnson, has since become one of Hollywood's hottest action stars, appearing in several blockbuster hits such as The Scorpion King, The Rundown, Be Cool, Walking Tall, Gridiron Gang, The Game Plan, Get Smart, Race to Witch Mountain, and most recently, Fast Five.

In 2002, due to the WWE "Brand Extension" initiative, WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown became two separate entities, with each promotion having its own set of wrestlers and storylines. Shortly thereafter, WWE star wrestler Brock Lesnar refused to defend his undisputed WWE championship on WWE Raw, in effect becoming the WWE Smackdown champion. Sales of WWE SmackDown tickets surged, as Lesnar reigned as a WWE champion three times during his career before becoming a mixed martial arts fighter later in his career.

Also in 2002, WWE instituted a Draft Lottery, in which Raw and SmackDown refresh their rosters and introduce new wrestling talent. The Draft Lottery has been an annual event since 2004, and sales of WWE SmackDown tickets have further been aided by the refreshing of the talent in its stable.

Current wrestling stars such as Edge, The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, The Great Khali and Booker T all raised their standing in professional wrestling with their appearances on WWE SmackDown, and helped spur new sales of WWE SmackDown tickets as well. In 2008, WWE champion Triple H was drafted into the WWE SmackDown stable during the annual draft lottery, further sparking sales of WWE SmackDown tickets.

Today, with its 12-year history on cable network television, WWE SmackDown has become a staple on Friday night television for its many fans, and live tickets sales continue to increase each year. Further adding to the lure of WWE SmackDown was the declaration by Meriam-Webster announcing in 2007 that the word "smackdown" would be included in the Webster's Dictionary. Smackdown is referred to in the dictionary as "the act of knocking down or bringing down an opponent."
